정상적인 우리 그리스도인들은 열심을 품고 주를 섬긴다 "열심을 품고"의 헬라어 원문은 제온테스(ζέοντες)이다. 그 뜻은 ‘부글 부글끓어오르다,’ ‘뜨겁게 타오르다’라는 의미이다. 이는 불같은 성령을 받은 분들이 그러한 모습으로 살아감을 나타낸다.

계속 돌아가는 물레방아는 추운겨울에도 얼어 붙지않고 계속 구르는 돌에는 이끼도 끼지 않는다. 마찬가지로  열심을 품고 주를 섬기는 자들은 사악한 마귀의 시험에 (쉽게) 빠지지 않는다.

정상적인 그리스도인들은 눈에 보이는 사람들을 사랑함으로써 보이지 않는 하나님 사랑을 보인다 (요한1서4:20). 성경에 나온 인물들과 우리 기독교 2천 년 역사에서 하나님의 교회를 질,양으로 부흥시킨자들은 하나같이 열심을 품고 주를 섬긴 자들이다

하나님께서  오른손으로 붙드시는 자들은 (사41:10) 열심을 품고 주를 섬기는 자들이다. 정상적인 그리스도인들의 마음에는 꺼지지 않는 소원이 하나 있다. 주님의 기쁨이 되는 것이다. 

그리스도를 닮은 바울은(고전11:1) 자기 몸에서그리스도가 존귀하게 되는것이 평생 소원이었다 (빌1:20~21). 바알과 아세라의 우상숭배를 장려했던 자들 850명도 자기들의 몸이 상하기까지 열심을 냈으나 소용이  없었다 (왕상18:26~28).

그러나 살아계신 하나님과 동행한 엘리야 한 사람의 기도에 불이 내렸고,  또한 비도 내렸다 (왕상18:38,41~46). 오늘날 우리들이 현대판 엘리야가 되어 보자. 열심을 품고 주를 섬기자.  이는 권면이 아니라 하나님의 거룩한 명령이시다(롬12:11).

하나님의 명렁에 순종하고 또한 복종함이 온전한 믿음이다.

바울은 그의 일행과 함께 우리가  만일 미쳤어도 하나님을 위한 것이요, 정신이 온전하여도 너희를 위한 것이다 (고후5:13)라고 말했다. 열싱을 품고 주를 섬긴 자들은 거의가 다 새벽을 깨운다.

홍해 가운데로 길이 길이 열린 일과 여리고 성이 무너진 일과 예수 그리스도께서 부활하신 때가 모두 다 새벽이었다. 예수님께서도 새벽기도를 하셨으니(막1:35) 우리들도 새벽기도를 하자 하나님께서는 새벽에 도우신다(시46:5).

열심을 품고 주를 섬기는자들이 곧 주님을 닮은자들이다.

Serve the Lord with Zeal

Healthy, mature Christians serve the Lord with zeal. The Greek word translated as "be fervent in spirit" in Romans 12:11 is zeontes (ζέοντες). It literally means "to boil," "to bubble over," or "to burn with fervor." It describes the spiritual passion of those who have been filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit.

A waterwheel that keeps turning does not freeze, even during the coldest winter. Likewise, a rolling stone does not gather moss. In the same way, those who serve the Lord with zeal are not easily overcome by the temptations of the evil one.

Healthy Christians demonstrate their love for the invisible God by loving the people they can see (1 John 4:20). Throughout Scripture and throughout the two-thousand-year history of Christianity, those whom God used to strengthen and expand His church, both spiritually and numerically, have consistently been men and women who served the Lord with wholehearted zeal.

Those whom God upholds with His righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10) are those who serve Him with zeal. There is one desire that never grows cold in the hearts of healthy Christians: to bring joy to the Lord.

The Apostle Paul, who urged believers, "Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ" (1 Corinthians 11:1), made it his lifelong ambition that Christ would be honored in his body (Philippians 1:20–21). In contrast, the 850 prophets of Baal and Asherah displayed intense zeal, even to the point of injuring themselves, but their efforts were completely in vain (1 Kings 18:26–28).

However, through the prayer of one man—Elijah, who walked with the living God—fire came down from heaven, and afterward rain fell upon the land (1 Kings 18:38, 41–46). Today, let us become modern-day Elijahs. Let us serve the Lord with burning zeal. This is not merely an encouragement; it is God's holy command (Romans 12:11).

Obeying and submitting to God's commands is the evidence of genuine and complete faith.

Paul also said of himself and his companions, "If we are out of our mind, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you" (2 Corinthians 5:13). Throughout history, those who have served the Lord with fervent zeal have often been people who rise before dawn to seek Him.

Many of God's mighty works are associated with the early morning. The way through the Red Sea, the collapse of the walls of Jericho, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ were all revealed at daybreak. Jesus Himself rose early to pray (Mark 1:35); therefore, let us also seek the Lord in early morning prayer. God helps His people at the break of day (Psalm 46:5).

Those who serve the Lord with zeal are the ones who increasingly become like the Lord.
