죄 사함과 함께 영혼 구원을 받게 하는 것은 기독교뿐이다. 그리고 그 기독교의 중심에는 예수 그리스도가 계신다. 그는 하나님의 본체로서 사람의 몸을 입고 이 세상에 오신 유일하신 천하 만민의 구원자이시다.

예수 그리스도를 구주로 믿기 전, 바울은 유대교의 충실한 자였으며, 히브리어와 헬라어, 라틴어와 아람어에 능통했던 자로서 학문과 열심을 겸비한 지성인이었다. 그러나 그가 예수 그리스도를 구주로 영접한 이후, 크게 깨닫게 된 것이 있다. 그것은 바로 예수 그리스도를 아는 지식이 가장 고상한 것이며, 모든 것을 다 배설물로 여긴 것이다(빌 3:7~9).

그리고 죄인을 위해 대속의 십자가를 지신 예수 그리스도 한 분만으로 만족하기로 했다. 자신의 삶의 목적, 의미와 가치, 수단과 방법이 아닌, 오직 예수 그리스도의 복음만 전하면서 살기로 결단한 것이다.

바울이 오직 예수 그리스도만이 유일한 구원자이심을 온 세상에 전한 이유는 오직 예수 그리스도 한 분뿐임을 알았기 때문이다. 예수님께서 십자가에서 죽으셨을 때, 성소와 지성소 사이를 가로막고 있던 휘장이 위에서 아래로 찢어졌다. 둘로 나눠진 것이 하나가 된 것이다. 이는 예수 그리스도께서 대속의 십자가를 지심으로 하나님과 우리 인간 사이에 죄악으로 막혔던 담이 사라진 것을 의미한다.

또한 그리스도만이 우리를 모든 것으로부터 자유케 하시는 유일하신 진리이시며, 그를 믿는 자들에게 이 세상에서는 풍성한 생명이 되시고(요 10:10), 죽은 후에는 영생을 누리게 하시는 유일한 분이시기 때문이다(요 14:6).

이러한 일들이 어찌 사도 바울에게만 적용되겠는가. 아니다. 예수님을 주와 그리스도로 믿는 모든 그리스도인들에게도 그대로 적용된다. 하나님께서 우리를 그리스도의 은혜로 구원하신 목적이 있다. 그것은 바로 그리스도께서 앞서 가신 그 길을 따라오게 하심이다(벧전 2:21).

우리 모든 그리스도인들은 주님의 발자국 위에 나의 발자국을 포개어 주님과 함께 걸어가야 한다. 소금은 자기 몸을 녹여서 맛을 내고, 양초도 자기 몸을 희생함으로 어둠을 밝힌다.

그러므로 오직 예수, 오직 성경, 오직 은혜, 오직 믿음, 오직 하나님께 영광이다. 구원자는 오직 예수 그리스도뿐이시다.



Forgiveness of sins and the salvation of the soul are found only in Christianity, and at the center of Christianity stands Jesus Christ. As the very nature of God, He came into this world in human flesh as the one and only Savior of all humanity.

Before believing in Jesus Christ as Savior, Paul was a devoted follower of Judaism. He was an intellectual equipped with both scholarship and zeal, fluent in Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and Aramaic. Yet after receiving Jesus Christ as Lord, he came to a profound realization: that the knowledge of Christ Jesus was of surpassing worth, and he considered all things as loss—indeed, as rubbish—compared to knowing Him (Philippians 3:7–9).

Paul resolved to be satisfied with Jesus Christ alone, who bore the atoning cross for sinners. He determined to live not for his own purposes, meaning, value, methods, or ambitions, but to proclaim only the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The reason Paul declared to the whole world that Jesus Christ alone is the Savior is because he knew there is only one. When Jesus died on the cross, the curtain that separated the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place was torn from top to bottom. What had been divided became one. This signified that through Christ’s atoning sacrifice, the wall of sin that had separated God and humanity was removed.

Christ alone is the truth who sets us free from all things. For those who believe in Him, He grants abundant life in this world (John 10:10) and eternal life after death (John 14:6).

These truths do not apply only to the Apostle Paul. They apply equally to all Christians who confess Jesus as Lord and Christ. God saved us by the grace of Christ for a purpose: that we might follow in the path He has already walked (1 Peter 2:21).

All believers are called to place their footsteps upon the footsteps of the Lord and walk with Him. Salt gives flavor by dissolving itself, and a candle gives light by sacrificing itself to dispel the darkness.

Therefore: Only Jesus. Only Scripture. Only grace. Only faith. To God alone be the glory.
The Savior is Jesus Christ alone.
