부활의 소망
예수님을 구주로 영접하고 성령으로 거듭난 그리스도인에게 가장 크고도 마지막 소원은 부활이다. 이 소망은 주님의 재림 때 완전히 이루어질 것이며, 그때에는 주 안에서 잠든 자들이 먼저 일어나 주님을 맞이하게 된다(살전 4:16). 그러므로 부활은 단순한 교리가 아니라, 현재를 살아가는 우리의 삶을 이끄는 가장 본질적인 희망이다.
성령으로 충만함을 받고 주를 위해 살아가는 이들도 이 땅에서는 여전히 연약한 육신을 지니고 살아간다. 사도 바울을 비롯하여 믿음의 선진들 또한 육체의 한계와 고통을 피하지 못했다. 그러나 주님의 재림 때 우리는 신령하고 완전한 몸으로 속량될 것이다(롬 8:21~23). 이 약속은 현재의 고난을 견디게 하는 힘이 된다.
그래서 사도 바울은 현재의 고난은 장차 나타날 영광과 비교할 수 없다고 말한다(롬 8:18). 우리가 붙들고 있는 구원은 바로 이 소망 안에서 주어진 것이다(롬 8:24). 비록 지금은 세상 종말의 징조들로 인해 어둡고 혼란스러워 보일지라도, 밤이 깊을수록 새벽이 가까이 오듯 하나님의 때는 반드시 이른다(딤후 3:1~5).
부활의 소망을 가진 사람은 삶의 태도에서 분명한 차이를 보인다. 하나님을 사랑하고 이웃을 자기 몸처럼 사랑하는 일을 위해 오래 참고 모든 것을 견디는 삶을 선택한다(고전 13:4~7). 넘어짐이 있어도 다시 일어나는 것이 의인의 길이다(잠 24:16).
사실 흔들리지 않고 피는 꽃은 없고, 넘어지지 않고 걷는 아이도 없다. 중요한 것은 넘어지지 않는 것이 아니라, 넘어졌을 때 다시 일어서는 용기이다. 우리가 믿는 삼위일체 하나님은 우리가 마주한 어떤 문제보다 크신 분이시다(요일 4:4).
물 위를 걷다가 두려움에 빠져 물속으로 가라앉던 베드로를 향해 주님은 즉시 손을 내밀어 그를 건져주셨다(마 14:26~32). 이 장면은 우리의 시선을 어디에 두어야 하는지를 분명히 보여준다. 우리를 온전하게 하실 분은 오직 예수 그리스도 한 분뿐이시며, 우리는 그분만을 바라보아야 한다(히 12:2).
그러므로 우리는 파수꾼이 아침을 기다리듯 주님의 재림과 부활의 날을 기다려야 한다. 이 소망을 가진 사람은 현재의 삶에서도 충성을 다한다. 살아도 주를 위해 살고, 죽어도 주를 위해 죽는 삶을 선택한다. 우리는 주의 것이기 때문이다(롬 14:8).
결국 하나님께서 보시기에 가장 선하고 아름다운 삶은 하나님의 영광을 목적 삼아 살아가는 삶이다(빌 1:20~21). 부활의 소망을 가진 사람은 바로 이러한 삶을 살아가는 사람이다.
The Hope of the Resurrection
For a Christian who has accepted Jesus as Savior and has been born again by the Holy Spirit, the greatest and final desire is the resurrection. This hope will be fully fulfilled at the Lord’s return, when the dead in Christ in Him will rise first to meet Him (1 Thessalonians 4:16). Therefore, the resurrection is not merely a doctrine, but the most essential hope that guides our present lives.
Even those who are filled with the Holy Spirit and live for the Lord still carry weak physical bodies while on this earth. The Apostle Paul, along with the heroes of faith, could not escape the limitations and sufferings of the flesh. However, at the Lord’s return, we will be redeemed with spiritual and perfect bodies (Romans 8:21-23). This promise gives us the strength to endure present suffering.
Thus, the Apostle Paul says that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed (Romans 8:18). The salvation we hold onto has been given to us in this very hope (Romans 8:24). Even though the world may now seem dark and chaotic due to the signs of the end times, just as the deeper the night, the nearer the dawn, God’s time will surely come (2 Timothy 3:1–5).
Those who have the hope of the resurrection show a clear difference in their attitude toward life. They choose to live with patience and endurance, loving God and loving their neighbors as themselves (1 Corinthians 13:4–7). Even if they fall, rising again is the way of the righteous (Proverbs 24:16).
In truth, there is no flower that blooms without being shaken, and no child who learns to walk without falling. What matters is not that we never fall, but that we have the courage to rise again when we do. The Triune God we believe in is greater than any problem we face (1 John 4:4).
When Peter, walking on the water, became afraid and began to sink, the Lord immediately reached out His hand and saved him (Matthew 14:26–32). This scene clearly shows where our focus should be. The one who makes us whole is Jesus Christ alone, and we must fix our eyes on Him (Hebrews 12:2).
Therefore, just as a watchman waits for the morning, we must wait for the Lord’s return and the day of resurrection. Those who hold this hope remain faithful in their present lives. Whether they live or die, they choose to do so for the Lord, for we belong to Him (Romans 14:8).
Ultimately, the most good and beautiful life in God’s sight is a life lived for His glory (Philippians 1:20–21). A person who holds the hope of the resurrection is one who lives such a life.
